Thursday Things: Pool Party

Yesterday we had a much, much needed break in the heat down in Kentucky, and by break in the heat I mean it was in 80’s not 90’s. I celebrated this monumental occasion by working on the back porch for the first time in what felt like years, but this celebration was promptly nipped in the bud when I saw Damsel in Dior’s pool party. Because instantly I wished I was chilling poolside instead of working or at least working poolside.

I had a killer watermelon salad (with basil + honey vinaigrette) when I was in NYC last week, and ever since then I’ve had watermelon on the brain which means that Gimme Some Oven’s recipe for Watermelon Salsa totally hit the spot.

One thing I really want to do before the summer is over is going camping and hiking (surprise, surprise – I know), and Brock’s tips on dressing for hiking have kicked that desire up a notch. Currently looking for camping and hiking buddies, seriously inquiries only, please.

Even with Spotify I’m the world’s worst at listening to music, which is why I’m always thankful for Justin’s Music Monday playlists, and y’all should subscribe to them here if you’re Spotify users as well.

Seems like forever ago that I was in Charleston for SBScon, and Jessica just reminded me how much I miss being around my blogger besties on the regular.

In typical fashion Isaac offered some sage dating advice while answering the age-old question of “can I text him first?” this week on the blog, and I needed to hear this:

Do not, I REPEAT DO NOT waste time worrying about a guy who won’t even make the slightest bit of effort with you, okay? Worry about people who are going to worry about you back.

I got the chance to hang out with Isaac a bit last week during NYFWM, and he’s just as great in person as he is online. He’s definitely my straight crush, and I’m man enough to admit that.

Speaking of #NYFWM Talun wore one of my favorite designers from NYMD in his latest style post, Matiere. They’re definitely a brand you should keep and eye or two on.

One of my favorite things about traveling is turning Instagram friends into IRL friends, and if you’re looking for new Instagram friends then The Fresh Exchange rounded up their favorites, and that’s definitely a good place to start IMO.

While we’re on the topic of Instagram – I shared 3 tips on how to Instagram like you’re on vacation even when you’re at home, and if you’ve not checked it out yet now’s the perfect time!
